R. E. Brown, MD is the Program Director of Avenia Behavioral Management. Dr. Brown earned his undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University, Medical Degree at Meharry Medical College, and completed a dual residency in Neurology and Psychiatry at the Tulane University Medical Center.

Dr. Brown is Dually Board Certified in Neurology and Psychiatry. He specializes in assessing and managing the cognitive impairments, movement disturbances, and behavioral problems that occur as a result of developmental issues, aging, trauma, and substance abuse. Dr. Brown has consulted to more than 250 Long-Term Care and Community Mental Health facilities throughout Georgia as a Neurologist and Psychiatrist with Mental Health Management, a contracted state PASSAR provider. He is has served as a TelePsychiatrist for Highland Rivers Mental Health which services 11 rural counties in northwest Georgia and Paradigm Health where he provided TelePsychiatry services to rural nursing homes in Georgia. 

Dr. Brown served as a staff psychiatrist at Georgia Regional Hospital Atlanta where he provided acute in-patient mental health services to inmates of the Fulton and Dekalb county jails. He also provided substance abuse services to consumers at a local methadone treatment center and was the lead psychiatrist of the forensic assertive community treatment team at Georgia Rehabilitation Outreach in Atlanta.
